College basketball versus NBA

Published Categorized as Journal

There was a point in  time when College basketball was honest. Forget the money, and the fame, the college players were there for one reason, the love of the game. Now as we look at Derrick Rose, Jeremiah Dominguez and Scott Morrison, we begin to long for the days of the Milan Indians in 1954, (Hoosiers). There has to come a time where education is the key to survival air max 2009, not money. Derrick Rose will more than likely be drafted into the NBA, and not finish his college education. And why would he? He will be 19 years old making millions of dollars playing basketball in the big leagues.

Let’s take a minute and look at sports in general. Barry Bonds will not be remembered for his success on the diamond womens pink and black nikes, he will be remembered for the allegations of steroid abuse and the mistreatment of all of his fans and teammates. Dennis Rodman is not remembered as one of the best point guards in the game, he will be remembered for his fling with Madonna and the multicolored hair. Professional athletes, at least the ones we read about in the daily newspaper, have forgotten that there are millions of people who would give anything to be in their shoes. Some are humble and hard working, Michael Jordan, Peyton Manning, Julius Irving, Brett Favre, and these are the ones who always played THE game with heart, honor, and loyalty. But now, college basketball is all about more flare, and less showmanship. They want their 10 minutes of fame, because their overall goal is to sign a contract with the NBA Nike Air Max 2013. The loyalty to the team and the other players has slowly begun to digress to the need for money and fame . I don’t know, maybe I am resentful because the most I am capable of are a few pick up games at the local court or YMCA. Maybe the fans are resentful because they are loyal to the colors, and a championship is all they will ask for, or at least a winning season.

Most teams, whether basketball, football or baseball, will spend millions of dollars on a player, regardless of the ability of the team. For example, Barry Bonds. The Giants spent tens of millions to keep him with their clubhouse knowing that they would not have a good season Nike Air Max 2009 Womens, and the attendance at Candlestick Park had been diminishing over the years. But, Barry was a homerun king. He was going to set records. Sports are all about the allmighty dollar. Where have all the players gone. As for me, I will stick to highschool basketball airmax 90 grey white cyan. This is the one place where a team will play for free pizza after the game, and never complain. Boy, I sure do miss those days.
